From model of 1985 the version of the cars equipped with an automatic four-speed transmission of Ford A 4 LD is entered. This transmission is equipped with the coupling blocking hydrokinetic transfer. Its three first transfers correspond to transfers of a three-stage automatic transmission of Ford C 3, and the 4th transfer is nadperedachy (has transfer number increasing number of turns).

KICK-DOWN MECHANISM CABLE

Originally in automatic transmissions of Ford A 4 LD management of the kick-down mechanism was mechanical (see fig. Adjustment of a cable of the kick-down mechanism in the 1st version of execution).

Since May, 1986 (a code of date of manufacturing of "GJ") the kick-down mechanism copes the electromagnetic valve which provides more exact reduction of transfers.

DISTINCTIONS BETWEEN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS WITH 3 AND AND 4 LD

In a four-speed transmission And 4 LD after inclusion of the 3rd and 4th transfers come blocking of hydrokinetic transfer thanks to what oil heating in a transmission, and also fuel consumption by the engine decreases. The fourth transfer has increasing number of transfer which is at the bottom of that the number of turns of the engine for 25 % is less, than on the 3rd (direct) transfer at the same speed of movement.

The pressing an accelerator pedal against the stop (kick-down) causes automatic switching of transfer on the 3rd. It allows to achieve big accelerations and the maximum speed of movement.
