GENERAL INFORMATION

FORWARD BRAKES

Brake shoes

Since August, 1988 (a code of date of manufacturing of "JE") in Ford Sierra cars with diesel engines the material of brake shoes is changed. Besides, the thickness of a flange of a disk of a brake is increased with 7 to 8,5 mm, and thickness of a flange of a rotary fist with 8 to 9 mm.

Installation of disks of forward brakes of new type in rotary fists of old type

Surely it is necessary to check length of hairpins of fastening of a wheel. If it makes 36,5 mm, it is necessary to replace them with hairpins in length of 40 mm (nuts of fastening of a wheel should be established on the corresponding length of a carving) surely.

BRAKE DISK

Check of biyeniye (measurement by the indicator of hour type)

Maximum palpation of a rotary fist: 0,08 mm.

Maximum disk palpation: 0,08 mm.

DRIVING SYSTEM OF BRAKES

Vacuum pump

Since 1987 Ford Sierra cars with diesel engines are equipped with the vacuum pump of new type established on a former arm. It cannot be rejected at adjustment of a tension of a driving belt.

Installation of a driving belt of the vacuum pump

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. To weaken bolts of fastening of the vacuum pump to an arm and bolts of a bracket of the arm, fixing it to the engine.
2. To take from an arm a bolt of fastening and to move the vacuum pump.
3. To remove a driving belt of the pump.
4. To establish a new belt. To insert the taken bolt and to tighten all bolts of fastening of the vacuum pump.

Brake hoses

In a holding time of brake system it is necessary to check a condition of brake hoses (on all length).

Prevention

When lifting car from below suspension bracket elements excessively fall that causes wrest of elastic brake hoses from fastenings. Brake hoses it is necessary to check and establish carefully them on fastening places.

ANTI-BLOCKING SYSTEM

Since February, 1988 (a code of date of manufacturing of "JR") the wire of weight of the pump of ABS system is connected directly to the negative plug of the accumulator.
