4.1.1.6. Cooling system

GENERAL INFORMATION

The closed contour of cooling with nonfreezing liquid contains a radiator, a broad tank, the pump of cooling liquid, the thermostat and the fan.

Radiator and broad tank

The radiator with a cross-section stream has tanks from an artificial material. The broad tank is made of a transparent material and has designations of the maximum and minimum levels of cooling liquid. In the cars equipped with an automatic transmission, in the right tank of a radiator the radiator of oil of an automatic transmission (type oil - cooling liquid) is located.
Pressure of opening of the valve of an elevated pressure in a stopper of a broad tank: 65-110 kPas.

The pump of cooling liquid

The centrifugal pump of cooling liquid located on a forward wall of the block of cylinders, is put in action by a maple belt together with the generator.

Maple belt

Brand and type: Motorcraft 83 HF of 6 C 301 AA.
Tension (measured by the special Ford adaptation):

– new belt: 400-500 N;
– a belt being in the use: 300-400 N.

Deflection: 10 mm in the middle of longer site under the pressure of a thumb.

Fan

It is made of an artificial material, has seven blades, it is located on a shaft of the pump of cooling liquid and it is put in action by a maple belt together with the pump and the generator.

Thermostat

Wax, it is located on the pipeline which is taking away cooling liquid from the head of the block of cylinders of the engine.

Temperature of the beginning of opening: 85 °–89 ° Page.

Nominal temperature of opening: 88 ° Page.

Cooling liquid

Quantity: 8 ^dm3.

Type: the mix of special nonfreezing Ford SSM 97 B 9103 A liquid and the distilled water (on 50 %) form protection to-30 ° Page.

Periodicity of replacement: each 60 000 km of run of the car or time in two years.
