3.1.4.3.1.8. Ignition system

GENERAL INFORMATION

In the engine of 2,0 NANOSECONDS of DOHC 2V (N8A) the storage, microprocessor system of ignition of the ESC II type is used, and in the engine of 2,0 NANOSECONDS of DOHC EFI (N9A) the storage, microprocessor system of ignition of the ESC IV type, incorporated with system of injection of Ford Motorcraft EFI is established.

The principle of action of both types of system of ignition is identical, however the system integrated with system of injection differs in bigger capacity.

The system of ignition includes:

  – ignition coil;
  – the distributor of ignition containing the sensor of number of turns and the distributor of a high voltage;
  – the electronic module of management of ignition or the electronic device operating injection and ignition;
  – four spark plugs.

Besides, (depending on type) the system of ignition contains:

  – the sensor of temperature of cooling liquid (ESC II and EES IV);
  – vacuum sensor (ESC II);
  – sensor of neutral position of the lever of gear shifting of an automatic transmission (ESC II and EES IV);
  – sensor of provision of a butterfly valve (EES IV);
  – sensor of absolute pressure (EES IV).

Ignition coil

Brand and type: Bosch 0 221 122 450.

Resistance of primary winding: 0,72-0,88 Ohm.

Resistance of a secondary winding: 4,5-7 kiloohms.

Ignition distributor

The distributor of ignition contains the contactless sensor of the Hall which is carrying out also a role of the sensor of number of turns, and also the distributor of a high voltage. It is located on the forward end of a cam-shaft of inlet valves.

Brand: Motorcraft.

Ignition order (the N1 cylinder from a drive of system of a gazoraspredeleniye): 1–3–4–2.

Rotation direction: clockwise.

Electronic module of the N8A engine

Brand: Motorcraft.

Type: Ford ESC II.

Electronic module of management of the N9A engine

Brand: Motorcraft.

Type:

  – cars with a mechanical transmission: Ford EEC IV of 88 BB of 12A 650 AB;
